Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions
about working with Assabvision.

This page brings together the questions we hear most often from founders, CFOs and leadership teams that are exploring financial consulting support.

If you do not see your question here, you are very welcome to reach out. A short conversation is often the simplest way to understand whether we are the right partner for your organisation.

Clarity before commitment

Our first step is always an exploratory conversation. Before any engagement begins, we want you to feel clear about how we work and what we can realistically support.

Working with Assabvision

How engagements typically start, who we work with and what you can expect in practice.

We usually begin with a short introductory call where you outline your organisation, current challenges and what you would like more clarity on. If there is a good fit, we then propose a focused initial piece of work – often a diagnostic and scenario discussion – before considering longer-term support.

Most of our clients employ between 20 and 250 people and have meaningful revenue in place. They are often at an inflection point – considering expansion, restructuring, new investment or a change in focus – and want a clearer view of the financial implications before committing.

No. While we are based in Richmond, we regularly work with organisations across Australia. Many engagements are delivered through a blend of on-site sessions and structured online workshops, depending on your location and preferences.

No. Assabvision is not an accounting firm. We work alongside your internal finance and external accounting partners, focusing on how you use financial insight to make strategic decisions, not on day-to-day bookkeeping, tax compliance or statutory reporting.

Our experience covers professional services, consulting, technology and product businesses, as well as operational and asset-heavy organisations. What connects our clients is not a specific sector but a shared need for clearer, decision-ready insight into growth options and risk.

What a first conversation usually covers

  • • A short overview of your organisation and context
  • • Where you feel “in the dark” from a financial perspective
  • • Decisions you need to make in the next 6–18 months
  • • Whether our style of advisory support is likely to be useful

There is no obligation to proceed. In some cases we will suggest alternative forms of support if another type of partner would be more appropriate.

Engagement structure, cadence and fees

How projects are scoped, how often we meet and how pricing is typically set.

Scope is agreed collaboratively. After our initial conversations, we summarise the key questions you want to answer, the decisions you need to support and the timeframe involved. We then propose a set of activities, working sessions and deliverables that directly address those priorities.

We prefer transparent, project-based or retainer-based pricing rather than open-ended hourly billing. Fees reflect the intensity of work, level of senior involvement and the level of meeting participation you require. Specific pricing is always confirmed in a written proposal before work begins.

Meeting cadence depends on the stage and intensity of the work. Diagnostic and design phases may involve weekly or fortnightly working sessions, while implementation and review phases often align with your existing leadership or board meeting rhythm.

We are mindful of leadership bandwidth. Most engagements involve a mix of dedicated working sessions, preparation between meetings and some time from your finance or data teams to provide information. We agree an approximate time commitment upfront so there are no surprises.

We typically close with a review meeting that looks at outcomes, lessons and next steps. You keep all models, templates and materials developed during the engagement. Some clients transition to a lighter-touch advisory relationship; others take our work forward with their internal teams and reconnect when new questions emerge.

What you can expect from our side

  • • Clear articulation of objectives and success measures
  • • Straightforward communication about progress and risks
  • • A bias towards practical decisions over theoretical models
  • • Respect for your team’s time and existing commitments

We also encourage regular feedback throughout the engagement so we can adjust pace, format and communication style to suit your team.

Data, confidentiality and reporting outputs

How we handle your data and what kinds of deliverables you can expect.

We treat client data as confidential and handle it in line with our Privacy Policy, Data Policy and any engagement-specific confidentiality commitments. We only use data for the purposes of the agreed work, and access is limited to team members involved in your engagement.

We aim to meet you where you are. That may include exports from your accounting platform, spreadsheets, BI tools or bespoke reports. Where helpful, we can suggest structural improvements to reporting so that your internal teams can maintain new views going forward.

Typical outputs include concise dashboards, scenario models, board or leadership pack templates, written summaries of options and trade-offs, and facilitation materials for key decision-making meetings. We agree the most valuable deliverables during scoping.

Our work goes beyond static reporting. We provide commentary, interpretation and facilitation to help your leadership team understand what the numbers mean and what options they suggest. Over time, we aim to help your internal teams take ownership of this narrative.

We only share case studies or references with your explicit permission and with a level of detail you are comfortable with. Many clients prefer that our work remains confidential, and we fully respect that choice.
